St. John Paul II Catholic Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Christopher Dalton as the new principal of Nativity Elementary School. Mr. Dalton has fifteen years of experience as an elementary school classroom teacher (including thirteen years at Holy Spirit Elementary School), knows our elementary school curriculum, assessment, and instructional practices, has wide experience with children and families of diverse backgrounds and needs, and has actively built up our Catholic school culture. He also is an 18-year member of the North Dakota National Guard with the current rank of Captain and just completed a two-year assignment as Commander.
Mr. Dalton and his wife, Kathryn, have six children, four of whom will be attending St. John Paul II Catholic Schools this school year. Mr. Dalton has a B.A. in Humanities from NDSU, a B.S. in Elementary Education from UND, a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction-Technology from Grand Canyon University, and K-8 Principal Certification from the University of Mary.
He will bring the perspectives of a seasoned Catholic school teacher and parent as well as an experienced leader in the military.
Regarding his approach as Nativity School Principal, Mr. Dalton said he would “Start with small and fine details and the rest will bloom from there; it is much like writing a story or painting a picture. Through the small details the story comes to life. I look forward to writing this story and serving the Nativity Elementary School community.”
Mr. Dalton will begin his duties officially on August 4. Classes will begin on Tuesday, August 24.
